Levi’s Vintage Clothing Cone Mills Photo Series

Levi’s shines a light on some of their longest standing employees - celebrating what they’ve bought to the company

Article by Nicholas Payne-Baader

In a day and age where you get told the name and favourite colour of the farmer who’s grown your apples and the favourite pastimes of the cow that was milked for your latte, it can be quite easy to reach a provenance overload. So it was with some trepidation and a lot of delay that I looked at the photo series recently released by Levis Vintage Clothing on the workers at its White Oak Denim Mill.

The Series is not, as I had feared, a margin boosting, smoke in mirrors affair of just how much hard work goes into making a product but rather a quite tender and beautifully executed series documenting and celebrating some its most long standing employees. Despite the many column inches devoted to craft and artisans it is surprisingly rare to see such a thing documented. It’s quite refreshing that a company as huge and multinational as Levis is celebrating a few of the employees who have been with them the longest.riddle_stop 2
