A Spot of Art Deco Lunching
Le Caprice and the Royal Academy team up to offer champers, top-notch dining and complimentary tickets to Burlington House’s famed exhibitions

On arriving at Le Caprice, my companion and I were welcomed to our table in the gently buzzing art deco surroundings of the main dining room. Service was attentively understated, giving a very relaxed but civilised ambience.
Once seated we were offered a crisp fresh glass of Perrier-Jouet, served in a beautifully painted flute. The “Modern Mayfair Garden” Menu consisted of a specially selected array of Le Caprices classics to suit all tastes.
Our starters; Hot Smoked Salmon Pate and Grilled Chicken, Kale & Apple Salad, Roasted Pecan, Labneh were both perfectly presented and generous portions.
The Fillet of Cod with spiced Tuscan Beans and Greemolata was cooked to perfection, whilst the Wild Mushroom Risotto topped with freshly grated parmesan, was simple, but absolutely delicious.
Although we had only intended to sample two courses, our waiter encouraged us to sample some of the desserts. The Bramley Apple Crumble with Cinamon Ice Cream was served in a beautifully crisp pastry case giving a wonderfully crunchy texture to the dish. My companion thoroughly enjoyed devouring the Black Forest Sundae; served in a classic tall sundae glass it was certainly a challenge to finish!
Although the restaurant was busy, at no point did it feel hurried and the service was absolutely impeccable.
After enjoying a post-lunch coffee we collected our complimentary tickets and took the very short stroll across Piccadilly to the Royal Academy of Arts’ landmark exhibition, Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse.
Le Caprice and the Royal Academy have a number of complimentary lunch and exhibition ticket packages that offer a fantastic eating and cultural experience for a very reasonable price. Absolutely perfect for a (belated!) Mothers’ day treat or just a lovely civilised day out.
