If you knew then what you know now… would you still do it..?
With the benefit of hindsight yes, generally I would, but I’m not sure I would have the same level of determination if I knew what was coming round each corner.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Simply to be yourself.

What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
I use to work as a pigeon exterminator in San Francisco. Actually that’s true, I can’t think of any weird rumours, as they say, truth is stranger than fiction.

What was your biggest break?
Being accepted at college (Sir John Cass in Whitechapel) where I first studied hand engraving. Having wonderful teachers & meeting a bunch of very creative people inspired me and set me on my path in the jewellery industry.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
Being an optimist I would have to say yes, I’ve always felt lucky but I also believe we make our own luck. Having said that I had to quit the lottery as I couldn’t bear the bitter disappointment every time I lost…!

What’s most important in your life?
The things closest to my heart, family and friends, closely followed by peace of mind.

What brands do you admire?
I love all the following brands because of their attention to detail, strong identity and beautiful product: Le Labo sublime fragrances. Dishoom who have brought the old Irani Cafes of Bombay to London. Persol sunglasses. Delicious and idiosyncratic Hendricks Gin.

Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
Gothic Hammer House of horror films, maudlin country & western music, bread pudding from Greggs, moonwalking in the kitchen, ….Oh god I have far too many….

Describe your own personal sense of style?
I don’t have a particular look, or favourite label, it’s eclectic, casual with a little eccentricity thrown in. Much to my girlfriends’ annoyance. riddle_stop 2
