SalonQP launches Gems of Time, a specially curated exhibition of high jewellery women’s watches, in London.
Female horology buffs – a breed rapidly growing in number these days - will be making a beeline for what looks set to be a gem of an exhibition, called Gems of Time, celebrating the heritage, glamour, and craftsmanship of high jewellery watches.
The Saatchi Gallery – specifically a space specially designed by Leila Latchin, featuring fine-jewellery drawings by fashion illustrator Nuno da Costa – will play host, as extraordinary timepieces from leading international maisons such as Piaget, Cartier and Bulgari will make up a collection curated by Caragh McKay, editor of the Telegraph’s highly respected watch title Telegraph Time.
Highlights of the exhibition will include a set of Bulgari ‘Serpenti’ watches worn by Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Cleopatra in 1962, The Harrods Princess by Backes & Strauss – made especially for Harrods as a celebration of their own Biennale - and the simple Cartier diamond bracelet, housing a tiny watch dial, the Queen wore on her Coronation Day in 1953.
6-8 November 2014, The Saatchi Gallery. Tickets available from www.salonqp.com
