An Experiment not to be Sniffed at

Lifting the lid on an often inaccessible industry, olfactory expert, Emmanuelle Moeglin has founded London’s only open access perfume lab and invites people to deconstruct the world of perfumery at the Experimental Perfume Club

A professionally trained fragrance specialist, Emmanuelle Moeglin has over 10 years’ experience working in the industry. Twelve years ago, Emmanuelle began her fragrance path training at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles, one of the world’s leading perfume schools, where she learned the science and secrets of fragrance creation. Since then, she has travelled the world and worked as a Scent Design Manager for global fragrance brands in Paris, Barcelona and New York, alongside some of the biggest perfumers in the world. Working at L’Oréal, Puig and fragrance manufacturer Symrise, Emmanuelle trained with Annick Goutal’s perfumer Isabelle Doyen and Master perfumer Rosendo Mateu. She has also worked alongside noses such as Emilie Coppermann and Natalie Fesithauer and more recently as an international fragrance and cosmetics industry trend forecaster in London – credentials that shouldn’t be sniffed at.

Originally born as a pop-up, with six months in hipster area Dalston, the EPC is now in its new permanent home in the East London creative hub of Netil House (located between London Fields and Broadway Market).  The new, split-level lab is a micro-perfumery, specialising in bespoke creation for individuals and brands and education through workshops, one-to-one consultations and open-lab sessions – ideal for team bonding sessions and those who just fancy following their noses.

Guests are invited to get creative and hands-on with perfumery through a series of exclusive or group perfume-making workshops. Each workshop is designed for everyone and anyone with a nose and a sense of curiosity, allowing participants to delve into the art of perfume creation, rediscover their sense of smell and design their perfect blend with a trained perfumer. “Experimental Perfume Club was born out of a desire to help people reconnect with their senses and access the “behind the scenes” world of a product everybody uses but not many knows much about,” says Emmanuelle. “I had a desire to bring the wonders of fragrance to the world – exciting, exacting and exploratory, just how scent should be. It’s wonderful to see people become so excited about their newly awakened “nose” and take home a unique creation, which is not available anywhere else.”

The club is a unique destination for all wearers and lovers of perfume and the only London perfumery allowing direct and open access to wide-ranging ingredients and blending techniques. The Lab offers a wide variety of expert-led workshops and masterclasses where you can discover the rules and art of perfumery and make your own bespoke fragrance, from Apprentice Workshops to Expert Masterclasses, experimental Open Lab sessions to Bespoke and Fragrance Design workshops.  Whether you want to begin to learn the basics of perfumery, engage in a fascinating and creative group activity, book a private one to one session with Emmanuelle or realise your brand or project in a scent format, you are sure to leave well and truly inspired.

“I’m proud EPC has helped over 500 Experimental Perfume makers to design their own bespoke fragrance and I’m excited to announce a new page for Experimental Perfume Club with a bigger studio and as part of a wider, creative community,” Emmanuelle continues. “The new space will enable the Lab to host new workshops and open-lab days and welcome bigger groups of individuals and businesses.” riddle_stop 2
