Riddle me this… Archie Hume
Riddle gets up close and personal with the man behind the brand A Hume
If you knew then what you know now… would you still do it?
Without a doubt, yes. I love what I do. The variety, the different people I get to meet, it’s rewarding and fun! There is no way I could be stuck in a 9 to 5 job.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Treat people as you want to be treated. Always try to be fair to be people.
What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
That I should be model, although this was my mother talking… I’m too ugly for that!
What was your biggest break?
This sounds strange, but I think it was my Dad dying. He died when I was 23 so I had to take over the reins of the company. All of a sudden, I was the boss and I had so much responsibility.
It was a massive upset but it in a way it really was my “big break”.
Do you consider yourself lucky?
Yes, I do. In my little mind it’s always a bright day. I’d like to think I’m a happy, positive person most of time! If I’m ever moody, it doesn’t last long.
What’s most important in your life?
Health and the friendship of the people you’ve known all your life.
Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
My number one guilty pleasure is sitting in the garden after work with a coffee, watching the swallows in the sky. It sounds sad but it’s just so peaceful to watch.
