Riddle me this… Fabian Lintott

Up close and personal with the founder of Rufus Country

If you knew then what you know now……….would you still do it
Yes, I may have my eyes open a little wider but I would still make the jump!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Follow your heart, if you are 100% in love with something and live and breathe it only good things will happen.

What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
I have the worst memory, so there may have been one or two but I wouldn’t be able to lay my hands on it.

What was your biggest break?
Currently getting a long term freelance contract. It gave me the stability to work for myself and the time to capitalize on that flexibility.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
I would count myself as lucky. I am married to an amazing wife Maria whom I met when I was sixteen. Who puts up with a lot of my work overtaking our lives. I have a fantastically supportive family and two beautiful boys and we have a roof over our heads. I count myself lucky.

What’s most important in your life?
First and foremost I would say my family and friends. Whether going on picnics or just goofing around with a couple of planks of wood in the garden with my 3 year old playing pirates on a sunny afternoon. Family and friends are what count everything else can wait!

In my design life, it is really important that I create products with integrity and longevity. I want my customers to buy my bags with the knowledge they are getting more for their money. So many products over promise and under deliver. It is important to me that Rufus Country does the opposite. That is why I back our products with a five year guarantee.

What brands do you admire?
Harry’s of London; I think Kevin Martel is doing a fantastic job and creating some exceptional shoes and accessories.  Bill Amberg is up there in my favorites and I think the jewelry designer Hannah Martin is doing interesting things at the moment. Desigual for their crazy patterns and making the best shirts I can find.

Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
Guilty pleasures- I may be guilty of occasionally spending a few extra minutes in the toilet because the peace is amazing!

Describe your personal sense of style:
Eclectic, I love to dress up for special occasions. I love pattern and crazy colours. Pocket watches and tradition. I am a heavy advocate for being an individual.riddle_stop 2
