Riddle me this… Gilo Cardozo
Up close and personal with the founder of Parajet and Gilo Industries Group
If you knew then what you know now… would you still do it?
Yes, without doubt but I’d just do it a lot faster!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Never take no for an answer…and never give up if the goal’s worth chasing!
What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
I’m sure there are some but I can’t remember any, thankfully!
What was your biggest break?
Completing Mission Everest with Bear Grylls was a game changer for my business. It gave us credibility in the engineering arena and demonstrated our ability to get challenging things done…this opened many doors.
Do you consider yourself lucky?
Yes, exceptionally lucky. I hear a lot of people say that you make your own luck but I don’t agree…..when it comes your way, be thankful and do the very best you can with it!
What’s most important in your life?
My family, faith, friends and my workshop.
What brands do you admire?
Rolls Royce, Apple, Lego and Yamaha.
Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
Spending hours in my workshop making stuff whilst I’m meant to be somewhere else.
Describe your personal sense of style.
It’s something I have never really thought in depth about, but I guess I would say exceptionally positive and constantly looking for new ideas and improvements. I love it when I can create something from an idea and watch others get enjoyment and inspiration from it. Some people may describe me as offbeat and I think that reflects my young-at-heart outlook, my individuality and maybe some of the eccentricities in life.
