Riddle me This… Gino Castro
Up close and personal with the Brazil born London dentist at Smilepod
If you knew then what you know now……….would you still do it?
Probably if I have done it in the past, it is because I felt right at the time. If I think differently now, at least I learnt from it!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Always treat people in the same way you would like them to treat you.
What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
That I would give up my weekly chocolate melt in the middle pudding treat just because I’m a dentist!
What was your biggest break?
One of my biggest professional achievements was to have had the privilege of being trained in facial rejuvenation by one of the leading plastic surgeon recognised worldwide. Brazilian plastic surgeon and author, Mauricio de Maio, is a specialist Allergan (Botox distributor) who uses the ‘MD Codes’ technique and teaches all over the world and is quite simply the best in his field. Being a dentist trained on advanced techniques in anti-wrinkle injectables, dermal fillers and skin boosters, my passion is to provide both cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics in order to enhance facial harmony and rejuvenation. I take my professional development very seriously and I strive to keep my knowledge and skills fully up to date. Currently, I am a post graduate delegate in Facial Injectables at the Harley Academy.
Do you consider yourself lucky?
I think luck comes hand in hand with persistence. So yes, I’m very lucky.
What’s most important in your life?
My family and friends. Good food! I take time out from my busy dentistry schedule enjoying holidays by the sea, and love making a splash as an Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver.
What brands do you admire?
I love the cosmetic products from Lush and what they stand for.
Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
I am passionate about exercise and healthy living, but I love a well prepared chocolate dessert!
What’s the best experience you’ve had to date?
Having no phone or internet for 14 days on a diving boat expedition, where I swam with majestic manta rays and whale sharks. That was just completely surreal.
