Riddle me this… James Buntin

Riddle gets up close and personal with The Balvenie‘s UK ambassador

If you knew then what you know now… would you still do it?
Yes I would still do what I am doing now, I would just have less regrets

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Stay calm and don’t run around in a flap, “Life isn’t a race its a marathon”.

What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
I once heard through the grapevine that someone was convinced that my beard wasn’t real and that I only wore it while doing tasting.

What was your biggest break?
I think that I got a good head start in to the world of whisky all thanks to my dad who took the time when I was younger to share his passion and knowledge with me.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
I think that you make your own luck, I don’t consider myself lucky as I have had a few setbacks over the years, however I do think that I am fortunate to be able to share my passion with like minded strangers who soon become friends.

What’s most important in your life?
Apart from whisky! My dogs, Kenzie my wee girl is five, she’s a Scottish terrier (black) and has the most loving of natures. Archie (white) well he’s four and I call him a West Highland terrierist cos he is always up to something bad.

What brands do you admire?
There are several brands that I admire mainly because I like the quality of the products that they produce but more so because I identify with there values, a good example of this would be the family owned car maker Morgan Motors who not only hand build sports cars but also value their employees just as much as they do their customers.

Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
I can’t resist buying old and rare bottles of whisky! I spend far too much money doing it, I don’t display them I drink them with friends because that’s what they are made for!

Describe your personal sense of style.
Well that’s hard question to answer about yourself!

I guess over the years I have developed my own style which some people have said looks a bit like a throw back to the 90’s… the 1890’s that is; as I wear a lot of tweed, flat caps and bow ties. riddle_stop 2
