Riddle me this… Rob Hallmark

Riddle throws at few questions at the legal eagle turned eau de toilette wizard behind Gruhme

If you knew then what you know now… would you still do it?
Yes, but differently(!).

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Go to New Zealand.

What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
Nothing I should put in print!!

What was your biggest break?
I hope I haven’t had it yet(!) but certainly got lucky with winning over the excellent team of suppliers who are supporting Gruhme.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
Certainly not. The opposite is usually true if anything! Besides anything you are given in life for nothing normally does you more harm than good in the long-run!

What’s most important in your life?
Being fulfilled and having no regrets. My determination comes from wanting to provide a safe and enjoyable world for my daughter to grow up in where she can be free to make her own choices (she’s only 15 months old so I have a bit more time!).

What brands do you admire?
Tesla is my favourite right now, love what they are doing and how well they are doing it. However, I grew up drooling over the Aston Martin V8 and almost every other model before and since! I’m also a big fan of Montblanc (more so when it was just pens though), Bremont watches, Morgan motor cars, Deakin & Francis cufflinks, Church’s shoes and my local Clements & Church tailoring team for holding fast to their epic quality all these years. We also use Bolin Webb razors in our gift sets and have always been a fan of those.

Do you have a guilty pleasure – if so what is it?
Bad food! I’ve had the pleasure to eat at some incredibly fine restaurants (The Ivy in London and Carters in Moseley having also provided the best service by far!) but anyone who knows me will know that a take-out pizza is never far away!

Describe your personal sense of style.
Un-informed! I’ve never taken much inspiration from current fashion but I am impressed by someone who has style (and good style should be timeless). I will take far more interest in my own sense of style once I’ve established myself in business first! Being able to dress in all your favourite products and brands is a reward not a right! riddle_stop 2
